Blood cancer awareness month 2017

Written on Friday 15th September 2017

September 2017 marks National Blood Cancer Awareness month. Supported by leading UK blood cancer charities, including Anthony Nolan and Bloodwise (formerly Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research), the campaign aims to raise awareness about haematological cancers, improve treatments, and ultimately increase the number of lives saved.

pH Associates understand the importance of, and support, research into these cancers, and are proud to have designed, delivered and reported on a number of real world evidence studies in blood cancers on behalf of our clients. In 2017 alone, results from three different pH studies in this area have been presented at conferences in the UK and US:

  • At ISPOR 22nd Annual International Meeting in Boston, pH presented the results from a prospective survey of patients who were in first remission from diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, evaluating their health state utility and quality of life. (The poster was even awarded a prestigious green ISPOR rosette as a research presentation award finalist!)
  • At this year's British Society for Haematology (BST) meeting, pH presented the interim results from a retrospective research study in chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML), evaluating UK treatment pathways, monitoring patterns and real-world response rates of patients, against European consensus guidance.
  • Finally, also at BST this year, pH had an oral presentation of the results from an international retrospective study in CML, looking at the effectiveness, tolerability and safety of our client's chemotherapy drug, during its routine use in NHS clinical practice.

In previous years, pH have also reported on studies in multiple myeloma and Hodgkin lymphoma - including looking at stem cell mobilisation strategies and outcomes.
