Eyes on OPEN Health at the 17th Annual eyeforpharma Conference

OPEN Health recently made a splash at ‘the world’s biggest and brightest pharma meeting’ 17th Annual eyeforpharma Conference (Barcelona, March 2019) with our new brand launch. With many pharma influencers and innovators regarding eyeforpharma as a critical ‘must-attend’ annual conference, we were keen to tap into their expertise to gain their perspectives on the future of pharma.

Over 1,500 pharma decision makers attended eyeforpharma this year with roles ranging from Sales, Marketing, and Digital, through to Patient Engagement, Patient Advocacy, Medical Affairs, Market Access and RWE functions.

At the OPEN Health booth we asked a few questions of the attendees and garnered responses from 179 of the key attendees.

1. “Which of these organisational competencies are most important for your business over the next five years?”

65% of responders cited healthcare data and analytics as their top priority (they were allowed to select three).

In addition almost 50% of those surveyed also valued patient centred outcomes (PCO), patient engagement strategies, and real-world evidence.

2. We also asked about agency selection. “Which of these criteria are most important to you when issuing a new RFP/pitch?”

76% of respondents identified technical expertise as the single most important criteria that they consider (they were allowed to select three).

Price, breadth of services, and reputation/references were also important with around half of the responders selecting these criteria.

3. Interestingly, opinion was divided regarding the biggest single challenge facing the pharmaceutical industry over the next five years.

Three responses were jointly prioritised:

a. Policy-makers and payers having an increasing influence on what is prescribed

b. Patients becoming increasingly health conscious and demanding more of their treatment, and

c. Healthcare professionals becoming more aware of value and cost-effectiveness,

It is clear however that pharma is expecting increasingly complex pathways, with increasing numbers of stakeholders involved.
