Scientist, communicator, leader—Beth Lesher, PharmD, BCPS, is all three. In her new role as OPEN Health’s first Global Value Communications Lead, HEOR & Market Access, she integrates her deep expertise in value communications with her scientific training to craft messaging that consistently highlights the client’s asset and its value in advancing patient outcomes. Beth’s leadership in the industry is illustrated by her serving two terms on the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) Format for Formulary Submissions Committee, which issues highly influential guidance on AMCP dossiers.
Beth joined OPEN Health through the 2019 acquisition of Pharmerit, which had a 20-year history of global leadership in health economics and outcomes research (HEOR). At Pharmerit before, and now at OPEN Health, Beth develops HEOR and market access communications across a range of disease areas, products, and product types. Her engagement in industry initiatives such as the recent update to the AMCP Format for Formulary Submissions Guidance on Submission of Pre-Approval and Post-Approval Clinical and Economic Information and Evidence, Version 5.0, which was released in March 2024, highlights her dedication to elevating industry standards and promoting best practices in developing value communications.
As Global Value Communications Lead, Beth will support OPEN Health scientists and clients in the development of high-quality, innovative deliverables that, whatever their medium or format, crisply and consistently communicate a product’s value.
“It is not enough to have a safe and effective drug,” Beth says. “Clients also need to demonstrate product value and convey that value in a way that’s concise and compelling to different audiences. In a crowded and noisy marketplace, clinical, economic, and humanistic value supported by data is what shines through and resonates with diverse stakeholders.”
