Angela Rylands, Patient-Centred Outcomes Consultant at pH Associates had immense interest in the work she presented at the ISPOR 20th Annual European Congress in Glasgow. The pH Associates Patient-Centred Outcomes team were also busy at ISPOR co-chairing and open meeting for a brand new ISPOR special interest group (SIG) for PRO.

pH Associates had immense interest in the work they presented at ISPOR Glasgow 2017 showing the best approach for selecting patient reported outcome (PRO) instruments for real world studies. With this work, Angela Rylands (Patient Centred Outcomes Consultant) presented the poster titled:

'The development and use of a preliminary conceptual model of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) to facilitate PRO instrument for a UK Real World study.'

Since publishing this work at the conference, pH Associates have received more and more requests for information. Their approach demonstrates an effective way of capturing the patient perspective in real world studies, in a scientifically robust way. This is particularly useful for their industry clients, both for ensuring rigorous study design and to have a visual model that describes the concepts that are important to the patient population they are studying.

pH Associates' patient-centred outcomes team were also busy at ISPOR co-chairing an open meeting for a brand new ISPOR special interest group (SIG) for PRO. There, Angela presented a collaborative work proposal to address the challenges of working with PROs in real world research. The meeting took place first thing, on the opening day of the conference and was remarkably very well attended. As a result, it looks like the PRO SIG is likely to continue as an ISPOR working group and pH Associates are firmly involved in this initiative.
