As part of the OPEN Health Real-World Evidence (RWE) Scientific Consultant team, you will be responsible for:

RWE study design, protocol development and production of a wide range of study deliverables, (including publications [conference abstracts, oral presentations and posters, and journal articles], study reports, literature reviews [targeted and systematic]), as well as providing scientific direction as required throughout the study lifecycle to ensure all projects meet the needs of the client and other relevant stakeholders.

Key responsibilities:

  • Quickly understand relevant disease and therapy areas and health economics and outcomes research (HEOR) data sources to make recommendations on dataset requirements, study design and develop clear and concise study protocols, reports and publications and provide scientific direction for data analysis
  • Identify and develop RWE methodologies and strategies in partnership with wider project teams to ensure the appropriate design and delivery of studies in line with client requirements, project timelines and budget
  • Develop written materials that are appropriate to the target audience, fully referenced, and adequately address internal and external feedback to ensure exceptional client satisfaction
  • Ensure that quality and accuracy are maintained for all materials produced
  • Attend internal and external project meetings and contribute to client and investigator communication, as required

Other responsibilities:

  • Contribute to proofreading, formatting, referencing and editing of written materials produced by others
  • Ensure all materials are produced according to the most recent OPEN Health policies and industry standards/requirements (including the ABPI Code of Practice) as well as all relevant OPEN Health, and client-specified Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Attend OPEN Health meetings to maintain an up-to-date understanding of objectives and future plans
  • Support colleagues across OPEN Health with ad hoc activities, as required

What you will bring:

  • MSc, PhD or equivalent higher degree in a relevant discipline (Health Economics, Health Services Research, Public Health, Epidemiology, Pharmacoeconomics, or a related field)
  • A demonstrable track record of healthcare data analysis (essential) and presentation in a variety of formats suitable for different audiences (experience of analysing large healthcare datasets e.g. Hospital Episode Statistics is desirable)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to question the status quo
  • Advanced IT skills and extensive experience of using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and reference management software
  • Experience of RWE/epidemiology study design and study protocol development (desirable).
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements and industry standards for reporting and publishing healthcare research (desirable)
