As part of the OPEN Health RWE writing team, you will be responsible for:

Contributing to the writing a variety of technically accurate Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) deliverables (including, but not limited to, the following: literature reviews [targeted and systematic], conference abstracts, conference oral presentations and conference posters, slide decks, study reports, journal manuscripts), seeking input and advice as required from project team members and other OPEN Health colleagues, to meet the needs of the client and other relevant stakeholders.

As an Associate Medical Writer in the OPEN Health RWE writing team you will:

  • Ensure that quality and accuracy are maintained for all materials produced
  • Develop all written materials in line with client requirements for an initial informal review by a more senior member of the OPEN Health RWE writing team (and, as appropriate, by members of the project team) and incorporate feedback before formal review by a member of the OPEN Health quality review team
  • Develop an understanding of relevant disease and therapy areas sufficient to produce a range of scientifically accurate written deliverables, seeking advice from appropriate colleagues as required
  • Ensure all written materials provided to clients are: clear, appropriate to the target audience, fully referenced and meet the client’s needs
  • Ensure internal and external feedback on written materials is adequately addressed, seeking advice from appropriate colleagues as required
  • Communicate and coordinate effectively with relevant colleagues (including line manager) about project written deliverable timelines, booking of quality reviews and overall workload to ensure all written materials are delivered on time
  • Contribute to proofreading, formatting, referencing and editing of written materials produced by others
  • Attend internal project meetings if required
  • Contribute to author/client communication, where required, with support from appropriate colleagues
  • Ensure all materials are produced according to the most recent OPEN Health policies and industry standards/requirements (including the ABPI Code of Practice) as well as all relevant OPEN Health and client-specified Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Attend OPEN Health meetings to maintain an up-to-date understanding of objectives and future plans
  • Support colleagues across OPEN Health with ad hoc activities, as required

What you will bring:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interpret and fulfil client briefs in a creative and technically accurate manner
  • Sound understanding of science and medicine and the healthcare environment
  • Some knowledge of the publishing industry
  • Some clinical understanding of at least one therapeutic area
  • Experience of seeking out, critically appraising and appropriately citing published information
  • Strong IT skills and extensive experience of using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience of using reference management software such as EndNote or Zotero
  • Attention to detail
  • Willingness/ability to learn and apply new skills and new scientific/therapeutic/regulatory information
  • Adaptability / flexibility
  • Good project management skills
  • Ability to multitask, prioritise and manage workload in line with the changing demands of the business; excellent time management skills
  • Ability to plan, organise and complete multiple tasks and deal with changes in project timings and specifications
